On Tuesday’s Faith~In~Action show, I discussed the topic of death with dignity from a Christian perspective. How should Christians face death? How do we as Christians die with dignity? How does the Christian that dies with dignity compared to the world's understanding of death with dignity? These are all questions we have to face as Christians. As both believers and unbelievers there is one thing that we all have common ground with – that is death.
For the Christian to die with dignity doesn’t mean the end but just the beginning of an eternity with our Lord. As Christians to die with dignity is to die with the Lord. To die with dignity is to die for Christ. For the Christian death with dignity comes with for filling our allotted time here on earth until the father calls us home.
When it comes to death and dignity for the Christian, we have a one up on the world that only a security in a relationship with our Savior can bring. In comparison, the world has no way of dying with dignity. For those who do not have Christ as their Savior there can only be fear and trepidation of death and the unknown. That is why as Christians to bring dignity to death for those in the world we must preach the one thing that can bring dignity in death and that is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Gospel is by the only means into which one whom is of the world can find real dignity in death via a relationship with Christ.
You want dignity in death? Then you must be in Christ at your death!
