Economic Trinity
The Economic Trinity is the doctrine related to how the the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit relate to each other and their relation to the world. Each person of the Trinity has a different role within the Godhead and each has a different role in relationship to the world while each of these roles are distinct they do over lap in their roles. A good example that shows the differences in the roles is found in 1 Peter 1:2 ~
"According to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, that you may obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with His blood," You can see that the Father foreknows. The Son became man and sacrificed himself. The Holy Spirit sanctifies the church.
The word 'economic' comes from the Greek oikonomikos. In the simplest terms this means relating to the arrangement of activities.
