newspring church
NewSpring church is located in Anderson, SC and is home to emergent pastor Perry Noble. NewSpring church has about 14,000 regular attenders between their campus and multi-site locations.
NewSpring church is your typical emergent ran church with their emphasis on pleasing the seeker more than feeding the sheep. While NewSpring seems by appearance to have a biblical set of beliefs, which can be found here http://goo.gl/BwcZP. It is more of what they do in the pulpit that leads to problems and ultimately contradicts what they state in their belief statement.
Under the leadership of Pastor Noble, the congregation of NewSpring has been lead astray by many erroneous teachings such as; having "Highway to Hell" by AC/DC played in the church worship music as the lead song on Easter Sunday 2009, false teachings on the Tithes , or by pastor Noble scolding his flock for wanting to have a pastor that actually performs the duties of a pastor in accordance to the Bible. Anyway you look at it NewSpring and Perry Noble church has been and continues to be a center of controversy. (to see the full details of the listed above events see our article on Perry Noble.)
NewSpring church's and Perry Noble's approach to the handling of the word of God is done in the typical emergent format of allegorizing text and when at all possible adding some narcissistic exegesis to make the Bible all about you. NewSpring Church is not the only church that is guilty of doing these things, these techniques run rampant with in emergent church circles and are a big reason why these churches are so popular among the unregenerate goats of church hood. It would be hard-pressed to say that anyone attending NewSpring church has a proper understanding of biblical hermeneutics from hearing pastor Noble sermons.
Upon listening to the messages preached by Perry Noble it is almost scary hearing the attendees of NewSpring church applauding at the obfuscations of Perry's preaching. One is forced to wonder if those who follow pastors like Perry Noble and attend churches like NewSpring, if those in attendance don't have some type of cultic attraction within their personalities to sit under such leadership?
NewSpring Church and Pastor Perry Noble are far from what one would call a biblical church with a biblical Pastor. While on their website an on looker might be fooled by their statement of belief. Anyone who listen to a sermon or two and has any biblical discernment will be able to tell the problems that lie at the bottom of Pastor Noble's sermons. That problem is that the focus is on man and not really Jesus. If you are looking for a good solid bible teaching church this NOT the church for you. On the other hand if you are looking to have your ears tickled and want to be berated by the Pastor than this church my be for you.
