Ordo Salutis
The word Ordo Salutis comes from Latin and means the “order of salvation.” In the basic theological essence, Ordo Salutis is the order of the decrees in which God brings about the salvation of individuals.
Within the two theological camps, Reformed and Arminian the ordo salutis varies significantly. Followers of Reformed theology believe the ordor salutis occurs in this order; 1) election, 2) predestination, 3) calling, 4) regeneration, 5) faith, 6) repentance, 7) justification, 8) sanctification, and 9) glorification.
Those who hold to the Arminian theological position believe that the ordo salutis occurs in the following manner; 1) calling, 2) faith, 3) repentance, 4) regeneration, 5) justification, 6) perseverance, 7) glorification.
Regardless of what theological camp one may subscribe to, it must be remembered that God is sovereign over who He elects and that it is His decree on that process occurs not ours.
