The fundamental problem that is to be addressed after the shooting in Newtown Connecticut is as follows, Is God enough for us to place our rest and trust in? I want to start this blog out with my deep sorrow, for all those lost in this event, our deepest regards go out to all those effected by this here at Empowered by Christ. We believe that one who is made in the image, of God, has now passed some to be with that faithful creator and others to be apart from that creator, in accordance to biblical teachings.
When we look at the big picture, we need to see who is indeed enough. There can only be two things, one being close to God and the other being absent from God. When looking at this we first need to look at God's love. If we are to claim that God is enough, than his love must be an all consuming fire in our lives.
What does this all consuming love of God look like? Gods love that is before us is one that is all consuming and enough for the Christian, for our God is loving. As Christians, we say this but I fear that when in times of hurt and pain we forsake this idea. Many times we end up saying out loud or to ourself that a loving God, "would not do this kind of thing to one of his sheep."
I want to show that God's love is not forsaking us in a time of need. We have many things that we can use to show that God is with us even in circumstances like what just happened in Newtown. Many may ask, "is God still with us?" I would like to show that for those who are His elect, God is with them. It is something that many of us forget many often when in trouble. This however, is the key time to remember and to know that God is faithful to His elect. God is faithful all the time no matter what is going on with His elect, His love is enough for them. We see that God's love is something that is there for His sheep all the time. In the book of Judges we saw Israel was always sinning and then coming back to God. God was still there for Israel just as He is still there for us today.
With all this that has happened with the events of Newtown, we sometimes forget that God is enough for us in all the troubles we face. My hope and prayer is that we can as a country know and place our trust in God, not in leaders who are not enough.
2 Cor 12:9 But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
