This Weeks Topic For TUE, WED, & THUR shows
by Richard Haas
As Christians, we are always looking to “experience” God. How do we do this as Christians? What are the biblical means to experience God? Do we need extra biblical revelation to experience God? What are the dangers of many of the modern church movements of experiencing God? Often times more than, not in today’s modern church environment Christians find themselves longing for biblical ways of experiencing God.
In many church’s, today's biblical Christians find themselves trying to experience God thru means that God never intended for the Christian to use. Often books disguised in a Christian veneer promoting new experiences of God are hiding nothing more than ancient pagan mystical practices. Books such as, "Experiencing God" by Henry Blackaby promote this very type of extra-biblical wrapped in a Christian cover. We will be discussing this topic along with Henry Blackaby’s book this week on FAITH IN ACTION.
As Christians we need to be Bereans and search the Scriptures and all matters, especially when dealing on the subject of how God wants us to experience Him. Scripture points are very clearly how we are to experience and know God. It is clearly pointed out within Scripture that we are should never exceed what is written, this includes our ventures in experiencing Him. We as Christians must be leery of the “newest” fad such as Jesus Calling by Sarah Young. These types of fads many times will lead us off the path of experiencing the biblical Jesus and God, instead put us on a path of worshipping a false christ made in our own image.
I will be discussing this and much more related to this topic on this week’s episodes of FAITH IN ACTION.
