News flash God is still on His throne. The election last night does not affect God. He is not swayed over the political whims of man. The sovereignty of God has not faltered due to last night’s election aftermath, Palms 47:8. So while, as one sits and ponders what went wrong or what went right remember those things. Here at Empowered by Christ we have never told anyone who or who not to vote for. We have always said to determine the facts about each candidate or party and take it back to the Word of God and vote from the Word of God. That is exactly what we are going to do here, take it back to what the Word of God says as we discuss what now? Also, what to do with the leaders that we as a nation have elected or reelected?
Now for those whom today are standing in shock and awe wondering where the next four years are going to take us now that President Obama has won his reelection, do not fear but have peace, Romans 5:1. It must be remembered as a true believer in Christ one does not put faith in what government or political parties are in charge. Our hope is our Savior and our Lord Jesus Christ; Titus 1:2, 2 Corinthians 5:7, and 1 Corinthians 15:14-17. This is not a time to throw up your arms and quit. While yes, one might argue that we should give up changing government, I would agree. Our responsibility as Christians is not to change the government or to make it “Christian”. The clear and specific biblical command, which is every Christian’s mandate, given by Jesus Christ himself in Matthew 28:19-20. Jesus says, "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." As we read, Christ told us to make disciples, not to change the world via making a more “Christian” country by voting.
This does not mean as Christians we should do nothing. The bible is clear on the issue of what a biblical Christian should be doing when it comes to dealing with the leaders and the government. First, it is time as Christians to pray for our elected leaders as instructed to do in Romans 13. Secondly, we need to “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong” as instructed in 1 Corinthians 16:13. Thirdly, as believers we need to understand and follow the biblical mandate mentioned earlier in Matthew 28:19-20 and put it to action. This will be the toughest and most costly of the three actions mentioned prior.
For years now, American Christianity has had it extremely easy. This country has basked in easy believerism and over abundance of self-indulgence promoting a lukewarm Christianity at best. It is that, the American version of “Christianity” that has gotten in the way for many years now of true biblical Christianity. Just because "American Christianity" will make it difficult to follow Matthew 28:19 – 20 does not mean that Christ's remnant church cannot accomplish God's will. What I mean by God’s will is not to restore America, but to go forth and preach the Gospel and make disciples as stated in Matthew 28:19-20. Since Matthew 28:19-20 is a mandate given by Christ than the will of God will be accomplished. It will be done through God alone because God in the flesh has told us to do so.
Where we are today, is no mistake. This has come from a conglomeration of the country values that have turned its back on God. People have decided to go their own way. Allowing for every sin to be promoted as if it is the new normal. Do not have fear my Christian brothers and sisters in the Lord. Use this debauchery that has been brought forth as a catalyst to destroy this nation, as the exact item that allows God's will to be accomplished. Go preach the gospel to everyone and anyone who will hear it, proclaim it for the entire nation to hear. For it is in Christ and Christ alone where that peace can be found.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”~ John 14:27
