pagan earth day and you the Christian: How a Christian should respond
I don’t how many of you remember a time when earth day wasn’t crammed down our throats. I personally can not remember a time in which Earth Day was not celebrated. When I went to school I was forced to listen to the environmental wacko’s and their world is going to end if you don’t put that can in recycling bin speeches. Regardless of all their wacko speeches and fear mongering I still have not bought into this pagan earth worship day. I give God the credit that my mind has not been polluted by all their pagan babble. Unfortunately many people and good solid bible believing followers of Christ have been swooned by this pagan love song.
As Christians we are called to be good stewards of the earth. We are not called by God to worship the earth over our Creator. This is what Earth Day is all about if you want to get down to the core of its being putting earth worship over the worship of God our creator. Sadly much of these pagan practices have entered into our churches over the last decade or so. We can see this in churches that talk about “going green” or the “green cross”. Churches should be worried about the great commission not if everyone in there congregation is recycling or not. This type of pagan thinking fits right in to the social justice gospel that you hear preachers like Rob Bell, Bill Hybils, Rick Warren and Joel Osteen preach and sadly it’s spreading to smaller churches a rapid pace. Earth day fits right into the pagan gospel of moral relativism that they preach. It’s the good to do good for the sake of doing good not because Christ commands it but because it’s nice to be nice gospel.
One might as what is go bad about going green anyways? I say there is nothing wrong with being a good steward of what God has given us. We are commanded to do so. The problem is that earth day takes what God told us to do and adds a twist that only the devil can do. Just as he deceived Eve in the garden he is deceiving many today with being a God over the future of the earth thinking. Earth Day is a direct slap at the sovereignty of God’s control over His creations. Earth day and the people that celebrate it are basically telling God “God you where not smart enough to make earth and everything you created to last long until the return of Christ, we need to help you out.” This type of unbiblical thinking is not only a heresy but a direct sin against God.
So what does one do? It’s pretty simple don’t fall for the lies of Earth Day. Be a good steward of what God has given you everyday just not on Earth Day, but don’t draw attention to your good stewardship just honor God with it. If you are part of church that is partaking in the lie of Earth Day or preaching a social pagan gospel you need to decide what it is that God wants you to do. Stay or Go? Some many be called to stay and if that is the case than arm yourself with the truth and speak out against this practice that has engulfed our churches. Remember to do it in love many people don’t even know that they have been indoctrinated into this pagan gospel of the devil. If you are called to go than find a biblically sound church and help maintain that church from falling in to the lie of Earth Day.
