Well it seems that (R) Gov. Rick Perry has entered his hat into the race for the 2012 Presidential nomination. I want to see the Republicans win as much as any other Conservative does. We must however look at the bigger picture here. That is this: Is Rick Perry really the right choice for true bible believing following Christians? Putting all political issues aside we need to look at Rick Perry and his religious associations for an answer.
As we know Rick Perry back on August 2, 2011 held an event called "The Response". This event held associations with such unbiblical new age movements as the New Apostolic Reformation, Joel's Army and the defrauder IHOP movement of Mike Bickel which came out of the unbiblical teachings of the Kansas City Prophets. This is not to say that every speaker there was unbiblical and that there was not any solid bible teachers present but the problem lies with the fact that this event allowed unbiblical teachers and teachings to mix with biblical teachings and teachers. What we have here is a call to God from a mixed group of people some believers and some new age mystics. The problem is which god are they calling too? The God of the bible or their demigod. The organizers and Rick Perry have given the impression by allowing this mix of biblical and unbiblical teachers and teachings that they support ecumenicism or a religious pluralism movement. This movement believes that we all can come together under one big tent and call on the God of the bible and receive a blessing.
As a true bible believing Christian I say that we know we can not hold associations with such groups or peoples. We are told in Deuteronomy 18 starting at verse 10 “There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, 11 or one who casts a spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. 12 “For whoever does these things is detestable to the LORD; and because of these detestable things the LORD your God will drive them out before you.
As we see from these verses people that are practicing in such tactics are not in favor with the God of the bible. At "The Response" There were such groups in participation and co-chairs of this event that follow these practices that we are warned against being involved with in the above verse. They had groups like IHOP and Joel's Army which practices sorcery and uses people to call on the dead and interpret omens from the spirit realm. They use supposed angels like EMMA to get extra biblical revelations from the word of God. Which again we are warned not be have involvement with such people not only in Deuteronomy 18 but through out the entire bible.
God does not honor those who do not honor Him. So as a true bible believing Christ following believer I ask how can anyone of like mindedness follow Perry when he as shown that he is willing to throw his beliefs in with those who are not God honoring followers of Christ but use new age mysticalism to try and pray to the God of the Bible. A God that will not hear their prayers because they do not honor Him and do not have the Christ of the bible as their Savior.
Another point to mention is that what you see with Rick Perry might be what you get. That his associations with the groups from the event is what he believes. In that case than I for sure can not vote for Rick Perry for President because he than is not believing in the same God as the bible and is preaching a different Gospel.
In the long run it does not matter who wins the 2012 Presidential race. What matters is if God is being honored and if you when making your vote honors our God of the bible. Don't let the lure of a "christian" candidate and a false religious movement of praying to save our nation sway your vote. Honor God in your vote not man. Yes we should pray for our nation but in accordance to the bible, not new age mysticalism. God is still sovereign and will still be on His throne is Rick Perry wins or does not win. We must trust in God that His will, will be done in this matter that our nation is receiving exactly what has been determined by the sovereignty of God to receive for the sins we have and are allowing to be committed.
Praying for our nation is great and having a "christian" candidate is good. REAL change will happen in our nation when and only when we realize that we are all sinners and need God's merciful Son Jesus Christ to wash our sins free and makes us right in front of a Righteous, Holy, and Just God. When this happens and people are saved from the hell they are bound too for eternity without Christ than it won't matter about a presidential candidate being Christian or not because people will be forcing the change from their own lives not from an office.
