The Presidential primary races are heating up for 2012. While there seems to be no real for certain clear leader in the primaries it seems does of late seem that the so called “Religious Right” is off once again courting another political candidate. While here at Empowered by Christ we don’t endorse a specific candidate. We do discuss the worldviews of those candidates and how they affect biblical Christianity and the impact they have on us and our worldview. Before we continue we must also define what the Religious Right of today looks like. The Religious Right of today is not what it was when it was started by James Dobson and Tim LaHaye back in the late 1970s. The “New Religious Right” has morphed into a dangerous radical element of unorthodox teachings that has embraced the very liberal Charismatic theology of the likes of the NAR (New Apostolic Reformation). This is not your mother & father's Religious Right anymore.
At first the New Radical Religious Right of the NAR movement courted Presidential candidate Gov. Rick Perry. Using James Dobson and The Response prayer rally to try and move Perry forward as their “man of God”. This seemed to work at last until his numbers started to fall in the polls than NAR frantically moved on to their next endorsement. This time they are all clamoring at the heels of late to the race Newt Gingrich. It seems that the New Religious Right is buttering up to whatever candidate they think they can get the most out of if the candidate wins the Presidency. They are taking no chances with Newt it seems, The NAR even had Mike Bickel, the conversely Pastor of IHOP, pray over him. While the New Religious Right has clamored and posted their endorsements now both to Gov. Rick Perry and Newt Gingrich they have not even mentioned an endorsement claim towards Michele Bachmann. Why could this be? Why would the New Religious Right not be trying to swoon Bachmann with their endorsement?
Well first of all if I was Michele Bachmann I would be grateful that I was off the New Religious Rights/NAR’s radar. The last thing she needs in her campaign is the New Religious Right of the NAR endorsing her. To answer the above question of why the New Religious Right is not trying to swoon Bachmann we have to look at Buchmann and who she is. Buchmann first of all is a Christian and her beliefs and Christianity comes before her political views. Yes in her earlier days she was on the Jimmy Carter campaign trail, and then later switch to Reagan’s campaign. In today’s political field this is really a mute point. Anyone can change their political viewpoints when they are correctly educated on the subject. Her commitment to her religious views and beliefs is the very reason the New Religious Right will not touch her. She is to grounded in principled and her beliefs to be subdued by the craziness of the New Religious Right. One would think that this is exactly what the New Religious Right is looking for in a candidate. However, this is quite contrary to what the New Religious Right is looking for. They are in need of someone who is politician first and then a Christian. The reason for this position is so that they are able to fill their agenda of bringing about the fulfillment of the seven mountain mandate, which Bachmann will not do. The New Religious Right views Michelle Bachmann as a threat not as an ally to their causes. It is her strong views of the literacy of the bible along with her convictions and beliefs that are grounded in solid biblical Orthodox Christianity that are the threat to the New Religious Right. The New Religious Right does not operate with in Orthodox Christianity as can be seen by who they have as their leaders such as Mike Bickel, Lou Engle, Todd Bentley and other heretical preachers.
So thankfully I would not be looking forward to an endorsement from the New Religious Right anytime soon for Michele Bachmann. We will however continue to see the NAR and the NRR hold true their convictions. Endorsing so-called “godly man” promulgating their views and attempts to enforce their radical attempts to establish the seven mountain mandate through politicians claiming to be Christians.
